Imam Muhammad H.Shakoor
Born and raised in Jamaica Queens, NY in 1958, he has seventeen brothers and sisters.
He became interested in Islam in 1974 at age 14. He attended the regular meeting for a year before joining in 1975. He accepted the Leadership of Imam Warith Deen Mohammed on the passing of his Father, The Hon. Elijah Muhammad.
Imam Muhammad Shakoor moved to Dallas, TX, in 1990. He became an Imam in 1995 and a Resident Imam in 2001, where he is very much involved with the outer community. He is currently on the Mayor of Dallas' Religious Task Force, and he is a member of Thanksgiving Square Interfaith Program.
A former Advisor of the Dallas Public Schools Religious Task Force, he is a member of the Interreligious and International Federation for World Peace, the Interreligious and International Peace Council.
He is a recipient of "The Ambassador of Peace Award " for exemplary Leadership in Reconciliation and Peacemaking held at the Dirksen Senate Office Building on Capitol Hill in Wash, DC, on Feb 4 2004.
He was invited to participate at The International Leadership Convocation held in Soeul South Korea on August 2004, with members from 84 Countries in attendance.
He is a frequent speaker at Churches, Synagogues, Colleges and Mosques all over the U.S. He has been the Guest speaker on many TV and Radio program in Dallas on Interfaith. He believes that Muslims are facing a serious problem with extermism the like of which Islam has rarly seen in its history.
He heads a mosque that affirmitively critisizes the use violance by Muslims and preaches the sepration of governemnt out of religion.
